What's the chance I will have type II diabetes?I don't eat a lot of junk. I am not over weight.
However,
My grandmother and her youngest brother both have type II diabetes out of the 8 children in her family. My mom and my aunt both don't have diabetes.
No one on my father's side has diabetes that I know of.

I wouldn't be worrying about that just yet just live a great life.
I have age related diabetes I hate it but then again I don't take it to serious anyway and I don't have any side effects

Very little chance as long as none of your parents do not have diabetes. The chance would be higher if your grandmother had diabetes type 1 (starts with childhood)

There is always a chance.
Diabetes has a strong genetic component, but just as important is your lifestyle and diet.
Diabetes canNOT be diagnosed or ruled out by symptoms or "genetic tendency" alone.
if you are concerned, have the doctor perform an A1C test. This is a very simple test that will guide you in the right direction. IF the doctor has the proper equipment, this test takes 5-10 minutes. If not, the doctor will take a blood sample end send it to a lab for 2-3 days.
If your A1C is NORMAL then you probably do not have diabetes. Control your diet, get exercise, watch your weight. PREVENTION of diabetes is much better than treatment.
If the A1C reading is HIGH then the doctor may ask you to take another test called Glucose tolerance Test. This test is more complicated, takes longer (3-4 horus) and hurts a bit, but it will tell you definitely if you have diabetes or not.
The A1C test is relatively new (3-4 years), but it is so easy and important that most doctor do it now as part of your yearly physical (you DO get a yearly physical, don't you . . . .?)
Doing the A1C test once a year will help locate diabetes early, IF it occurs. If diabetes occurs, there is no cure, but starting aggressive treatment early will help reduced or eliminate the bad side effects such as heart attack, strokes, blindness, amputations and kidney diseas.

Well right now you have somewhat of a risk factor, not too much. If one of your parents would have diabetes, your risk factor would be much higher. What you eat does not cause diabetes, and being overweight does not cause diabetes. When the pancreas is not functioning right...that causes diabetes. Many different things cause cause it to malfunction, including certain blood pressure meds, some arthritis drugs, steroid drugs, cancer drugs, just to mention a few. Also being exposed to certain toxic chemicals can lead to development of diabetes, as can a blunt force injury to the pancreas.
Don't let the thought of getting diabetes worry you. But if you ever develop any of the symptoms, get checked right away.
